      Booming telecom Zayo Group opening office near Denver Union Station

      Zayo Group, the fast-growing business telecom, has opened an office in downtown Denver where it'll base dozens of workers as it looks to expand its business.

      While still in stealth mode, ProtectWise raises $14 million

      ProtectWise is just as covert as you would expect an enterprise network security company to be. Since January of last year, the Denver-based ProtectWise team has been keeping its projects largely under wraps.

      But a few investors including Crosslink Capital and Trinity Ventures were clued in on the venture’s specifics before coming on board for the $14 million Series A round, which was closed yesterday. Trinity Ventures led ProtectWise’s $3 million seed round last May.

      Colorado was sixth fastest growing state in 2013

      Colorado had the sixth fastest growth in GDP - real gross domestic product - in the country in 2013, according to a report released Wednesday by the Bureau of Economic Analysis.

      According to the report, growth accelerated in Colorado from 2012 to 2013 by 3.8 percent.

      The report noted that real GDP increased in all eight BEA regions led by the Rocky Mountain region. Wyoming was that region's leading state, which increased 7.6 percent.

      Advanced Industries grant applications now being accepted through July 1 from selected industries

      DENVER – Applications for the first cycle of the fiscal year of the state’s Advanced Industries Accelerator Grant Programs are being accepted through July 1.

      Online applications are being accepted at www.advancecolorado.com/aiprograms for two of the four grants offered, according to the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade.

      Those grants are Proof-of-Concept awards of up to $150,000 each and Early-Stage Capital and Retention grants of up to $250,000.
