      “Rapid expansion of the microgrid market over the next 10 years will drive increased demand for energy storage associated with these systems,” said Anissa Dehamna, Navigant senior research analyst.

      BOULDER – CU-Boulder and University of Colorado Cancer Center scientists are looking at a long-studied gene to see how it might be manipulated to help fight cancer.

      The gene – p53 – has been the subject of 50,000 scientific papers over more than 30 years and is the most commonly inactivated gene in cancers, CU said. When p53 is activated, cancer cells are stopped or killed before they can survive, grow, replicate and cause cancer.

      Boulder's Zayo pays $293 million for Geo Networks' optical fiber

      Internet network consolidator Zayo Group paid roughly $293.5 million for its latest acquisition, London-based Geo Networks. The deal was announced last week, though the purchase price wasn't disclosed until Wednesday in a regulatory filing.

      Boulder-based Zayo said the acquisition will add over 2,100 miles to its fiber-optic network in Europe, connecting nearly 600 buildings. The deal was funded through a combination of cash and a portion of the company's $250 million revolving credit line.
