Lyft is teaming up with Wal-Mart Stores Inc. to offer home grocery delivery in Denver in a bid to complete with Amazon.com Inc.'s same-day services.
It's part of a pilot program by Wal-Mart (NYSE: WMT) to home-deliver goods from its Walmart stores in Denver and Phoenix using ride-hailing services. It will use Lyft in Denver and Uber in Phoenix.
Wal-Mart will roll out a pilot "within two weeks," said Michael Bender, the retail giant's executive vice president of e-commerce.
