CTA Holds Annual Day at the Colorado Capitol

Earlier this month, Colorado Technology Association held its annual Day at the Colorado Capitol. It's an opportunity for members to get further involved in advocacy and policy efforts and to hear directly from legislators and public officials about issues and legislation that directly impacts the industry.

CTA members gathered at the Colorado Capitol on March 1st to bring tech voices to the Gold Dome. Participants began their time under the gold dome by taking a tour of the Capitol building, learning more about the building itself and the ins and outs of how policy is created and passed in Colorado. Following the tour, members gathered for lunch and conversation which included legislators and Capitol staff before gathering to hear from legislators and public officials.

CTA was very excited to bring a great group of speakers to present and answer questions for members. The dialogue was kicked off by CTA President & CEO Andrea Young who talked about the importance of CTA's advocacy efforts on local, state and federal levels and the work being done on behalf of CTA members. We also heard from CTA Policy Council Chairs JB Holston and Roberta Robinette about the work of the Policy Council and the importance of member involvement when it comes to shaping policy.

For a statewide perspective on technology issues, we were excited to have Simon Tafoya, Senior Policy Director for Governor Hickenlooper, discuss the Governor's tech agenda including issues like making Colorado a national cybersecurity hub.

We were honored to have a great group of state legislators speak to members on issues they are working on and tech topics and legislation they are involved with. Rep. Larry Liston of Colorado Springs, Rep. Chris Hansen of Denver, Sen. Dominick Moreno of Commerce City, Sen. Jack Tate of Centennial, Rep. Alec Garnett of Denver and Rep. Mike Weissman of Aurora.

CTA's 2017 Day at the Colorado Capitol was a great opportunity for members to engage with their elected officials and discuss directly with those shaping policy in the State of Colorado.
