Colorado Legislative Tech Caucus Kicks Off

Earlier in the legislative session, Colorado Technology Association hosted the first meeting of the Colorado Legislative Tech Caucus at The Commons on Champa. The Tech Caucus will serve as a platform to discuss key technology issues and improvements in Colorado, and will focus on tech talent, emerging technology and modernizing tech policy.

Legislators who joined the kick-off meeting included Joint Technology Committee Chair Senator Beth Martinez-Humenik, Joint Technology Committee Vice-Chair Jonathan Singer, Joint Technology Committee member Representative Dan Pabon, Joint Technology Committee member Senator Jack Tate and Representative Donald Valdez. Each legislator spoke about why technology issues are important to them and what their tech priorities will be during the legislative session and beyond.

Last week, the Tech Caucus held its second meeting of the legislative session at the Colorado Capitol. Legislators heard a lunch presentation from CompTIA (Computing Technology Industry Association) on their IT certifications presence and use in Colorado as it relates to the relevance of technology in the workforce and government space. Attendees also heard an overview on autonomous vehicles from Rutt Bridges.

The Tech Caucus will be meeting once more before the end of the legislative session and will plan to hold meetings during the 2018 session.
