If passed, Senate Bill 19-184 would have directed the Colorado Water Institute, an affiliate of Colorado State University, to study the potential uses of blockchain technology to manage a database of water rights. Best known for supporting cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, blockchain is a technology that allows computer networks to communicate without relying on a centralized authority.
