Collaborating to create a culture of innovation: The Commons on Champa and Denver Startup Week

This month we celebrate Denver and Colorado’s spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation. As you probably know, last year Forbes ranked Denver as the second-best city in which to launch a startup and Colorado was among the top five most entrepreneurial states by the Kauffman Foundation Entrepreneurial Index. These are just a few of the many organizations recognizing the special things that are happening in our backyard.

As you have heard over the past year, CTA is dedicated to ensuring that Colorado is a tech-friendly place, which often involves ensuring an environment for innovation. To this end, we have collaborated with the Downtown Denver Partnership (DDP) to create opportunities through physical spaces, events and programming for entrepreneurs to thrive.

Drumroll please…we are very excited to unveil The Commons on Champa!

It’s no secret that we do business a little differently here in Denver. This City’s history and reputation for developing public-private partnerships helps maintain our position as one of the nation’s leaders in attracting the next workforce and innovative businesses. CTA has joined together with the Downtown Denver Partnership and the City of Denver to create a unique space for entrepreneurs to collaborate and convene at 1245 Champa Street.

Opening next Wednesday, May 13th, The Commons on Champa will be wired with a host of hi-tech amenities courtesy of our friends at Comcast, and will provide high-quality programs and access to resources for entrepreneurs to succeed at every stage of starting an organization.

The Commons on Champa would not have been possible without strong public-private partnerships in place. Companies such as Comcast, JP Morgan Chase, Quarterly Forum, JG Johnson Architects, Drumbeat and PCL Construction, were instrumental in the project’s success by contributing cash and in-kind donations of services and material. Read more about The Commons on Champa here and share your ideas.

We are also pleased that CTA will be a core tenant of The Commons on Champa so you will all be invited to many CTA events in the space very soon.

    Denver Startup Week

Organized by the DDP, CTA and the entrepreneurial community at-large, Denver Startup Week is a platform to convene and connect existing and future startups, helping to grow Denver’s entrepreneurial community.

In just three years, Denver Startup Week has grown to become the largest, free entrepreneurial event in the country, bolstering Denver’s reputation as the best place to start and grow your business. In 2014, the weeklong celebration saw over 700 companies and 7,800 startup community members engaged in over 180 events that celebrated everything entrepreneurial in the Mile High City.

Denver Startup Week will continue to engage and connect entrepreneurs, creating an inclusive community of Denver-proud startups.

The 2015 Denver Startup Week will be September 28th - October 2nd. The organizing committee is accepting submissions for events for this fall’s event through May 31st. Learn more and submit your ideas here: www.denverstartupweek.org.

Together, let’s build a better Colorado technology community.

We look forward to seeing you!

    Yours in collaboration,

    Erik
