1. The Rockies are Full of Technology

The Rockies are Full of Technology

We did it. Five cities. Five days.

The first Colorado Tech Tour was a huge success as we engaged with hundreds of tech leaders across the state and learned about the exciting technology activities in each city. From drones, to robots, to Saas software to great service companies, Colorado is full of opportunity and great leaders building technology companies in every city.

In each city, we hosted a listening session with local leaders to learn first-hand what opportunities and challenges exist in each market. This was the best time spent on the tour–interacting with economic developers, real estate developers, investors, elected officials and the technology leaders building their cities.

What did we learn? Technology is everywhere in Colorado and leading the state.

Here are some high-level thoughts from the tour:

    Broadband Access

As you move out of the front range of Colorado, enterprise-class connectivity is a core discussion – and is an opportunity for Colorado to grow and improve. From Telluride to Frisco – connectivity and speeds can improve – and together we can make a difference to move these communities forward.

    Talent

Gaining access to great technology talent to build companies outside of the Front Range is a challenge. There are great companies and products being built across the state and connecting workers and talent to these opportunities will create a significant impact in those cities. Who does not want to ski and code? Let’s help them out.

    Great Companies and Leaders

One consistency is that from Telluride to Fort Collins, Colorado has amazing technology leaders leading the community. Technology is core to the economic development strategy of all cities and the individuals leading the dialogues are world-class and creating real value in their communities. We are excited to continue the discussion with each city and further connect the Colorado tech community.

    What’s next?

We are working hard to consolidate all the feedback and opportunities in each city and will publish a Colorado Tech Tour report to share with the CTA community soon. We are Colorado, and further connecting all our cities through technology will only amplify our collective success.

Thank you to all the leaders who participated in the tour, and SwiftPage, Viawest, GTRI | NetApp and CenturyLink for your support. As a state, we will grow together through technology, and connecting our communities will only further connect us all.

We hope to see you all on the tour in 2016!

    In partnership,

    Erik
