      Faster Internet feeds Boulder's Zayo: IPO jumps 16%

      Shaky financial markets didn't stop Zayo Group Holdings Inc. from going public Friday. The Boulder-based Internet company, which has thrived while quenching the world's thirst for faster Internet, jumped 20 percent before ending its first day on the New York Stock Exchange at $22, up 15.8 percent, and valuing the company at $5.3 billion.

      The volatile market forced Zayo to lower its expectations of raising $650 million this week by offering 28.9 million shares priced $21 to $24.

      Colorado companies continued to attract more VC funds through Q3

      Colorado isn't seeing more venture capital deals in 2014 than it did in 2013, but the amount of funds invested through the third quarter was significantly higher than it was in the same period last year. Through the third quarter, Colorado companies attracted $443.2 million in VC funding, compared with $362.4 million through the first three quarters of 2013, according to a MoneyTree report released late Thursday.
