Colorado hospital uses AI to get patients out the door faster

Several years ago, Noomi Hirsch’s team at Lutheran Medical Center took a closer look at how the hospital discharged patients and the results were eye-opening. “We figured out there were 279 individual steps a patient needed to go through before they could leave the hospital,” said Hirsch, vice president of operations for the SCL Health-owned hospital in Wheat Ridge. “At that point, it really kicked off our focus of streamlining that part of the operation.” Since October, Lutheran has been piloting Qventus, an artificial intelligence platform that aims to make the process of discharging patients more efficient.
