DigitalGlobe teams with Saudis on new satellite fleet

Denver Business Journal

DigitalGlobe Inc. has reached an agreement with a Saudi Arabian partner to build a fleet of small satellites that the Westminster-based company will use for its orbital earth-imaging business. Monday's announcement comes as DigitalGlobe (NYSE: DGI) faces the prospect of new competition from companies using less expensive small-satellite technology. Those new entrants may include an offshoot of Google, which has been a steady DigitalGlobe imagery customer.
