      The National Institute for Standards & Technology based in Boulder may close its time-signal radio station in Fort Collins that broadcasts time and frequency information from its atomic clock in Boulder as part of agency-wide  proposed budget cuts. President Trump’s fiscal year 2019 budget request for NIST proposes to cut the agency’s budget from its fiscal year 2017 enacted level of $954 million to $629 million, a 34 percent decrease.

      PasswordPing Ltd., a Boulder-based cyber-security startup that screens online accounts for compromised credentials, has hired Michael Greene as CEO. Mike C. Wilson, who has served as CEO since founding the company in 2016, will take the role of chief technology officer. Greene will focus on the business side of the organization in conjunction with chief operating officer, Joshua Horwitz, according to a company press release.

      ColdQuanta Inc., a Boulder-based firm that is developing products based on quantum technology, has raised a seed-funding round of $6.75 million led by Maverick Ventures in San Francisco, with participation from Global Frontier Investments LLC in Sausalito, Calif. The funding will be used to help commercialize ColdQuanta’s products in the areas of communications, computing, timekeeping and navigation.

      Columbus, Ohio-based Vertiv on Tuesday said it will employ 100 data scientists, software developers and other professionals at a new office in Loveland. Vertiv, a provider of equipment and services for data centers, will lease a 19,000-square-foot, one-floor office space from Loveland-based McWhinney Real Estate Services Inc. at 1880 Fall River Drive in Centerra, a 3,000-acre master-planned community being developed by McWhinney.

      LONGMONT — A tech startup in Longmont has emerged from stealth mode to announce its first product, a plug-and-play system that it says “drastically improves retail-loss prevention and slashes operational costs.” DeepCam LLC, which has been in stealth mode for three years, made the product announcement Thursday at the International Security Conference & Exposition in Las Vegas. The system uses biometrics to identify shoplifting and other suspicious behaviors.
