York Space Systems, a year-old satellite manufacturing company, has entered a research and development partnership with the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command to be prime contractor on a small satellite slated to launch as a secondary payload in late 2017.

      Instead of competing for an investment, six student teams have to show continued progress to stay in The Garage, a space that previously housed a prototyping lab in the school's engineering building that student companies can use to turn their business ideas into companies that generate revenue and profits.

      Denver entrepreneur incubator scores foundation grant

      Denver's public campus and incubator aimed at working with entrepreneurs has landed a $400,000 grant from the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation to help women and minority entrepreneurs. The Commons on Champa, a campus for entrepreneurs that opened in 2015 at 245 Champa St., was launched and is run by the Downtown Denver Partnership (DDP).
