Xcel Energy Inc. on Monday filed a settlement proposal with state regulators that one supporter said will help the state’s biggest utility improve the electric grid and save customers energy and money.

The settlement agreement focuses on Xcel’s proposal for an “advanced grid intelligence and security” upgrade, including upgrades to the utility’s (NYSE: XEL) network of meters and customers’ homes and businesses.

Tesla completes $2 billion buy of SolarCity, Colorado's biggest solar installer

Tesla Motors Inc., Elon Musk's electric-car maker, has completed its $2 billion all-stock acquisition of solar-panel installer SolarCity Corp. in a bid to create a company that can sell cars and solar power units at its stores. A new federal report confirms what might have been apparent already: Vestas Wind Systems is on a roll in the United States.

The Danish wind-turbine manufacturing company, which supplies the U.S. market from four factories in Colorado, accounted for 2,870 of the 8,598 megawatts of wind power installed in the United States last year, according to the Department of Energy’s “2015 Wind Technologies Market Report,” released on Wednesday.
