    4. Metro Denver unemployment rate drops to 2.4 percent

      Metro Denver's unadjusted unemployment rate dropped to 2.4 percent in March, down from 3.6 percent one year ago. There were about 14,360 more people employed in metro Denver in March than in February, according to raw county jobs estimates released today by the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment. The 2.4 percent unadjusted jobless rate is for a 10-county area that includes Denver, Aurora, Lakewood, Broomfield and Centennial, but not Boulder County.

      The city of Aurora has approved as much as $1.18 million in tax incentives to Amazon.com Inc., which planning to build a huge fulfillment center in the city. The tax breaks would take effect if the e-commerce giant (Nasdaq: AMZN) creats at least 900 jobs at the 1 million square foot facility at Prologis Park 70 near the intersection of Interstate 70 and E-470, the Aurora Sentinel reports.
