      Several Colorado universities scored top rankings in the latest U.S. News & World Report evaluation of college graduate programs in business, law, engineering and other fields. The rankings for 2018 were published today. The University of Colorado Boulder's Leeds School of Business is tied at No. 79 in the nation for its MBA program on the latest list. It ranked No. 77 last year and No. 86 the year before.

      Mike Hess is helping lead a public-private partnership for a new vocational school for blind and visually impaired people to prepare them for high-demand jobs. Hess, founder and executive director of the Blind Institute of Technology, said the effort is to head off a nearly 80 percent unemployment rate among the visually impaired and blind and to get otherwise smart and qualified people into the American workforce.

      Colorado employers added 7,900 jobs to their payrolls in January, while the state's unemployment estimate edged down a tenth of a percentage point, to 2.9 percent, the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment reported today. That's the lowest unemployment rate for the state since it stood at 2.8 percent in February 2001, state officials said.

      CU Denver will grant early admission to Denver high schoolers with good grades

      Juniors at Denver's DSST Public Schools now have an even bigger incentive to get good grades — it could mean they'll already have a place in college set from the start.

      The University of Colorado Denver will give early conditional admission to DSST Public Schools' juniors who earn a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

      The DSST Public Schools — formerly known as the Denver School of Science and Technology — currently have eight campuses and plans to have 11 by 2025.

      The Techtonic Academy has completed week one of a four-week apprenticeship training class, hosted in partnership with the Downtown Denver Partnership and Colorado Technology Association (CTA) at The Commons on Champa in Denver. Techtonic Group is providing opportunity to unemployed and under-employed individuals with an emphasis on increasing the opportunity for youth, women, people of color and veterans to enter the information technology workforce. The current class consists of 12 students with 75 percent of the students in the class falling into the targeted population.
