      As we ring in 2015, we also are ringing in a few new initiatives with CTA’s volunteer program. Moving forward, we require volunteers to be current subscribing members of CTA. In turn, to reward our dedicated volunteers we will be awarding free event tickets to individuals who volunteer more than 10 hours toward a CTA event. And any volunteer giving 5-10 hours will receive a 65% discounted event ticket.

The 2015 hiring projections are based on interviews with 100 CIOs who were asked to provide a six-month hiring outlook.

      Next year's Denver Startup Week dates have been announced, with the week-long event meant to give area startups a set time to innovate, collaborate and celebrate to take place Sept. 28-Oct. 2. The five-day event this year took place from Sept. 15-19, and drew an estimated 7,800 startup community members and 700 companies to more than 180 events around the city. In 2013, an estimated 5,500 people and 650 companies participated in Denver Startup Week.

      Smart Sprinkler Maker Rachio Working With Nest, Raising Seed Round

      It’s not exactly the season for lawn watering in Denver, but that doesn’t mean Rachio, a local maker of smart sprinklers, is taking a rest. Far from it.

      Rachio recently released a new version of its app that allows users to control home irrigation systems with smartphones and tablets. The app is a key component of the startup’s Iro smart sprinkler system, which is for sale at Home Depot, Best Buy, the Apple Store, and online through Amazon and Rachio’s websites, among others.
